Buy the Car Coat sewing pattern from Wardrobe by Me. The Car Coat is a relaxed outerwear piece that's perfect for layering. Whether you're heading out for a walk in the city or dressing up for a casual evening, this jacket is a go-to wardrobe staple.
The Car Coat is oversized and boxy with dropped shoulders. It is fully lined and features a convertible collar, front and back yokes, and deep armholes. The front welt pocks have optional flaps. The coat is finished with three large buttons.

Suggested fabrics: Choose a medium to heavy weight woven fabric (wool coating, wool blend coating, boiled wool) for the main fabric, and a smooth woven lining.
Fabric requirements: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Main, 2 - 2.5 m (2.25 - 2.75 yd) // Lining, 1.6 - 2 m (1.75 - 2.25 yd) // Optional contrast collar fabric, 0.5 m (0.5 yd).
If you choose to use fabric with a large scale plaid, you must buy an extra metre of fabric to pattern match. The contrast collar fabric is optional. If you make your jacket all in one fabric, this is already included in the fabric requirements.
